Michelle S. Hernandez
M.S., CCC-SLP
I'm an English/ Spanish bilingual licensed and certified speech-language pathologist with 5 years of clinical experience. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to create meaningful relationships with my clients and watch them gain the communication skills necessary to connect, share, and interact with the people in their lives. I started the Greenwich Speech Center to help clients achieve lasting success in an upbeat, positive environment. Here at the Greenwich Speech Center, I manifest my ability to think “outside of the box” but well within the realm of evidence-based practice to help clients achieve their long-term goals and remain motivated in an individualized setting. I have compassion for patients and their families and will often communicate with family members to ensure active involvement during the treatment process. Utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach, I also communicate with other related service providers to provide efficient treatment and ensure client success.

Prior to starting the Greenwich Speech Center, I worked as a treating therapist at a Speech-Language Pathology private practice in the Greenwich area. I specialized in treating children who presented with developmental delays, receptive and expressive language disorders, auditory processing disorders, fluency disorders, speech disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, and myofunctional disorders. Additionally, I treated adults with neurogenic speech and language disorders.
I also have experience working in both medical and school settings. I was a bilingual speech-language pathologist intern at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, and I treated patients with motor speech disorders, cognitive-linguistic deficits, aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia, and speech and swallowing-related disorders. I treated in a special school in both one to one and group settings and worked with a variety of children who presented with speech and language delays, feeding disorders, emotional disturbances, or Autism spectrum disorder. With regards to research, I worked as a research assistant at the Developmental Neurolinguistics Lab at CUNY Graduate Center, and had co-authored “Language Exposure: Do Spanish and English proficiency and use influence sentence acceptability?”
In order to stay well-informed on new findings in the industry I consistently complete continuing education hours, attend workshops, and read up on new research in the field. My professional development is important to me and I am extremely committed to providing the most appropriate and relevant services.
For fun, I enjoy getting outside, paddle boarding, trying new restaurants, and spending time with loved ones and my dogs and bird. I love and am always up to trying new things such as trapeze, long boarding, and ballroom dancing!
My proudest moments in life come from when I see a patient with marked deficits make significant, universal gains allowing them to functionally participate in society. I am confident that together we can create a positive and rewarding experience!
